An online safe haven.

Hey guys! Didn't get to post at all during the month of August because I was really busy. When I meant busy, I meant, really really really busy!

I had projects submission, tests and exams to study for for the whole month of August, so I kinda neglected this blog for a while.

But anyways, I'm finally back cause exams ended which means that holiday is here! Yes, I will be having a 1 and a half month break.

This is kinda my plan for the break: sleep sleep sleep.

If you get to know me better, you'd realize that I love love love sleeping a lot. I'm always staying at home, why, cause my bed is here lmao.

My friends always try to drag me out of the house which I sometimes oblige, but then if not I'd be like "no thanks, you guys go ahead I want sleep."

Ya, it may seem like I'm kinda anti social, but idm, I just love to stay at home. This way, I could refrain from going out and spending unnecessary money. Isn't it a win win situation, stay at home with k dramas and at the same time saving money cause I don't need to spent them at all?

Some of you probably asking, what about going out to work? Yes, I have thought about it. In fact, I have even asked a few stores if they were hiring part timers. But they all wanted long term part timers. Which means even after school starts, I will have to continue working.

I know some people are able to continue working even after school starts. But not me. Why? Cause I know myself. If I work after school, I will not have the time to revise, yes, some people are able to juggle both work and school (even CCA) but not me.

I'm a very lazy person, I know myself, I will not be able to spend time on school work if I'm that tired. I know some people have no choice but to work during the school term, they have to juggle both school work and work at the same time. For that, I really admire them.

Some people would call me lazy but I guess that's just how I am. I really don't mind working during the holidays, but once school starts I know it'd be difficult for me to juggle both school and work, I mean after all, I really need to study hard in order to raise my GPA. (Still not up to my expectations.. sigh)

Okay, let's not talk about these stuff now.

I'm just gonna use this holiday to catch up on my bible reading, dramas and exercising. I lost a bit of weight last month when I was sick, so I'm hoping to maintain it, it'd be awesome if I could lose a few more kilos idm hah.

Short post just to update yall, see ya soon!

I have no idea what to do with my life now that I'm done reading ACOMF..

Anyway, hey guys I'm back with another "talk" but don't worry, it's not a beauty talk this time! HAHAHA! It's sort of like a book talk and if you are not someone who likes to read, this post would surely bore you.

Okie, let's go!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas.

This is the sequel to the first book of the trilogy, A Court of Thorns and Roses.

I think I wrote about the first book before, but I can't remember if its still amongst the blog posts. But for those who do not know about this series, let me give you a brief summary.

So in ACOTAR, it is about a girl called Feyre (Fei-ruh) who is a human huntress, who lives in the village with her father and two older sisters. They were once wealthy but later on became broke. Feyre was the only one in the family who would dare to go out into the woods to hunt for food since their father was not really too capable in taking care of his three daughters.

One day, Feyre accidentally killed this magical creature and so because of her mistake, she was forced to live with this beast/creature/faery, High Lord of the Spring Court, Tamlin.

In the ACOTAR series, there is the Spring Court, Summer Court, Winter Court, Autumn Court, Day Court, Night Court and Dawn Court. Each court is ruled by a high lord, sort of like a king.

Anyway, so in ACOTAR, Feyre and Tamlin slowly fell in love as they spent more time together in Spring Court and Feyre is introduce to Tamlin's world.

At the end of the book, I seriously thought that Fey and Tam are like meant to be together and in love with one another so badly. But as soon as I started reading ACOMAF, ho ho ho, major plot twist by Sarah J Maas.

So in ACOMAF, something between Fey and Tam's relationship changes. Towards the end of ACOTAR, Fey and Tam went through hell and was tortured by this evil villain (I won't say much you guys must read it to know what happened!!). I think it's probably PTSD or stuff, but the both of them has very intense trauma because of it.

Tamlin starts to become obsessed with keeping Fey safe even locking her in the house (wtf). Also, Fey has to keep her promise about the bargain she made with the High Lord of Night Court, Rhysand (Ree-Sand). The bargain was that every month, Fey has to live in the Night Court for a week. This bargain was made during Fey's torture by the evil villain in ACOTAR just so Rhys could help her.

In ACOMAF, Fey starts to feel suffocated because of Tamlin's control over her freedom, this damages their relationship. She thens starts to find comfort in Rhys (super unexpected) and got to know the different side of him.

Mist and Fury this time was much more thicker then Thorns and Roses. I remembered I finished reading ACOTAR last year and I was so excited for the sequel to come out and so when it was released in May, I was like omg I really need to get the book!!

I found out Popular has it so I quickly bought it and finished it within 4 days. Woohoo.

Okay, so Sarah J Maas is really super good at plot twists. She could make us turn our liking for a certain character into hatred and vice versa!

(A few spoilers for Mist and Fury below)

My exact reaction when: Tamlin locks Fey up in her room.

Like uh nu uh, LOCKING SOMEONE UP AGAINST THEIR WILL ISN'T LOVE, LIKE IT'S CREEPY. Tam claims it's for her own protection but I'm just like BS.

Me when: Fey starts to fall in love with Rhys

Like yeah I know in book 1 she was all crazy about Tam, but in book 2, Tam changed and he becomes more aggressive and obsessive and possessive around Fey and he doesn't give her any freedom at all so I kinda understand if she falls out of love with him.

Rhys was there for her the very start so I'm like AWWWWW YES RHYS IS A GOOD GUY WE HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD HIM IN THE FIRST BOOK BUT YAY LOVE HIM. (he was kinda mean in book 1 but it was revealed in book 2 the reasons why he did what he did)

Me when: Rhys was confessing how he felt when he found out that Fey was his MATE

OMG OMG OMG. I WAS JUST LIKE HO HO HO. Like mates?! Just a little background on the stories, when a fae found their mate, it is not just like a lover, it meant that they are equal in status, it's like your other half.

Tamlin mentioned to Fey before that if they get married, Fey would not be his queen as there is no such thing as a High Lady, Fey would just be a consort. Like a concubine. I was like wtf.

BUT Rhys was willing to make Fey his HIGH LADY LIKE OMG SEE THE DIFF BETWEEN TAM AND RHYS?!

Me when: Rhys officially made Fey the High Lady of Night Court.

Like bam! BAM MAN! Shitty Tamlin was going to make Fey a consort only, a rank that is not equal to him. BUT RHYS MADE FEY HIS HIGH LADY, HIS QUEEN, HIS LOVE, HIS EQUAL.

Find a Rhysand ladies, not a Tamlin.

Remember how I mentioned how good Sarah J Maas is with plot twists? Yep, at the end of the book I was like HOLY SHIT, SHIT JUST GOT REAL

Like Fey was willing to GO BACK TO TAMLIN SIDE JUST SO SHE COULD SAVE NIGHT COURT AND HER FAMILY. But don't worry, she go back only to become a spy for her mate. SMART ASS GIRL SHE!!

Tamlin is digging his own grave by letting the HIGH LADY OF NIGHT COURT stay at Spring Court especially since she swore to "lead him in the wrong direction," and "bring him and his court to their knees." #TEAMFEY

By the way, Tamlin actually sided with this bad king who wants to take over the world and do evil stuff just so he could get Fey back. Sigh, someone slap this guy please.

Anyway, overall the book was awesome, I have no complains about it and it exceeded my expectations. I really didn't expect a lot of stuff in there hohoho.

Now I have to wait till next year for the final book to come out!

What I hope with be in the last book? Well, I hope more FEYSAND scenes, Tamlin being defeated by Feysand and of course a happy ending for Feysand!!

Okay but I really cannot wait until the final book comes out. Oh by the way, you guys should check out Sarah J Maas other book called "Throne of Glass", it is actually a series. I have not started yet but I am planning to. If her ACOTAR series is good, then I bet TOG is as well!

Try reading from time to time guys, it's actually much better than always being on the phone.

I love books which I could relate to the characters, it makes you feel closer to them ya know lol. I think it's just me but I love reading books which are only in a female's POV. I'm not sexist or anything, but I just like reading books where the lead character is a female. Probably cause I'm a girl so I could relate to them better heh.

Alright, I shall not bore you guys any further, see you on my next post!

This is such an impromptu post cause I just thought of writing it when I woke up today. Plus, I feel like ranting about this topic for quite some time now so here goes.

To be honest, I get so sick and tired of people commenting about how a girl's body should look like.

For me, I've had people who keeps saying how I need to lose weight cause it seems like I'm having too much fats on my body.

HOLD UP. WAIT WHAT? Oh, so in your opinion, I'm having TOO MUCH FATS ON MY BODY?

WOW, I didn't know that it's actually illegal to have TOO MUCH FATS ON MY BODY?

And are you even a doctor? Or a professional health advisor? Who are you to say that I have too much fats on my body?

Who said that girls can't have fats on their body? You? God? Doctors? OH WAIT, SOCIETY SAID
IT.

I just hate how people expect girls to have bodies like Victoria Secret Angels. Also, I realised that fleshier girls are more acceptable in America then in Asia.

Well, talking from experience since I'm an Asian with Asian family and relatives, I feel like if an Asian girls's thighs are big, having a flabby arms or spare tyres around the stomach, they are immediately frowned upon.

Don't get me wrong, I love my family and relatives. But sometimes, these old fashioned thinking NEEDS TO GO.

With all due respect. they have no right to judge my body and if I have no problem embracing how "big my thighs are" or how "round my face is". Who are they to judge?

If they tell me "aiyo, you need to slim down lah, growing chubbier liao", DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I'LL LISTEN TO YOU GUYS?

No, I've learned to embrace my own body and be happy. I'm not going to let your indirect statement of calling me fat affect my life. I'm not going to let you guys's comments affect me in any sort of way.

And you know what? I'm just going turn a deaf ear to comments made by them on how my thighs are too big or how I'm getting fat. Why should I let comments like these affect me emotionally?

Sometimes I feel like the older generation should be more sensitive. Some girls out there lack confidence and do not know how to embrace their own body. They are constantly thinking that they're fat when they're not. This is how eating disorder comes about.

The older generation make comments like "you're getting fat" or "thighs too big, cannot" without even thinking how the girls (or even guys) would feel. SMH.

I mean even if they think someone is fat, can you please keep it to yourself?

Okay, I'm going to be honest. I do not think I'm fat/obese.

Sure, I may have some spare tyres here and there, and maybe my thighs are bigger, but erm, does this mean I'm fat? And that I NEED to lose weight?

NO ONE KNOWS MY OWN BODY BETTER THAN MYSELF.

If I'm satisfied with my own body then these people HAVE NO RIGHT to make comments about my weight or my body. NO RIGHT.

I'm embracing my own body, if I'm not satisfied by how it looks then I'll exercise and eat healthily. People don't deserve to tell me what to do. Would you rather I starve myself resulting in an eating disorder?

Unless my health is being affected by how fat/obese I am, I'm just going to not let it affect my life.

Doing this post is kinda therapeutic lol. Everything that I mentioned is true btw. Every time people tell me "aiyo girl, you really need lose weight", I have the urge to just roll my eyes and shake my head.

Yeah continue your comments. They're not gonna make me feel less confident or insecure cause my view point is entirely different from yours and idc what you think as long as I'm satisfied and happy with my body.

Oh and do you really think I'll exercise and lose weight because of YOUR COMMENT? LMAO, nope. if I exercise and lose weight, it's because I want to. (I'm sure I've mentioned this so many times in another post)

So my point in ranting today is to remind girls (and guys) out there to embrace your body. Don't care what people says. what matters most is how you feel.

Remember, our weight and how our body looks don't define our happiness. As long as we're healthy and happy, that's all that matters. :)

Have been wanting to write this for quite some time but I've been quite lazy. But since I'm feeling a little productive, I shall start on it.

So it's been a year since I entered poly and I thought maybe I could share my views on the difference between secondary school life and poly life.

Friends

In secondary school, the friendship we made since sec 1 could very well last us our entire 4/5 years in secondary school.

I remembered some friends that I made in the sec 1 orientation camps lasted me my entire secondary school life. LOL. Though after graduating, not many of us are in contact now.

But I do have a few secondary school friends whom I'm super close to even now. Though we are different polys and courses, I still keep in contact with them. They are what I call "Close Friends".

For poly, I haven't graduate yet so I can't say for sure whether the friends I made in year 1 are still my friends after graduation. But a lot of people has been saying how people in poly are so fake and all they want to do in be popular.

I haven't encounter any of them yet, or maybe I have and I just don't know it yet but I think it's a little true..? I mean there are some people in polys whom are just obsessed with wanting to stand out and be popular so they join all sorts of activities and camps and blah blah blah just so they could get people to pay attention to them I guess. But I believe not everyone are like that.

Cause if the whole population in poly are like that then we are all effed up.

So I would say that the friendship made in secondary school are much more significant than the friendship made in polys.

Sure there's always drama (esp in a girls school) but we will always make up. Even after graduating from secondary school for at least a year now, I'm still in contact with some of my close classmates. Especially since we were from a girls school, the bond is damn deep ok.

I can't say the same for poly right now but maybe I'll get back to yall when I graduate ok?

Test Results

In secondary school, failing a subject doesn't mean end of the world. Not talking about national exam lah, that one is a whole different story lol.

Ya ok but like if we failed a subject in school, it's not really too worrying right. I mean admit it lah, some of yall will just be like "shit, failed math/science. aiya, better start studying hard liao,"

And then when you find a friend who also failed, it's like "OMG YOU FAILED ALSO? HIGH FIVE SIA!" This is something that happens to everyone once in their life I'm sure.

Then you'll just carry on with life and just continue to bury yourself in the 10 year series.

In poly, however, is an entirely whole new ball game. If you fail a module, you just need to repeat it the next sem. As simple as that. But though it is very simple, trust me, you do not want to ever repeat a module.

The work schedule in school is already super hectic with at least 4 or 5 modules plus your CCA. Imagine retaking the module that you failed in the next sem along with your other 5 modules. Its hell man. Extra workload!!

Which is why everyone is working hard in poly at their exams and projects just so we could pass the module and not having to care about it forever.

When it comes to test results, it could emotionally wreck you I suppose.

I remembered when I used to fail a subject in secondary school, I was sad for a day but then I move on and just study even harder.

But in poly, it's emotionally stressful tbh.

For 1.1, I had failed my microecons mid semester test. I am super bad at numbers and stuff btw, which is why I always don't do so well for maths and science. I am more of a history and literature person.

Anyway, when I failed my econs MST for 1,1, I was freaking out. Cause I was worried if I was gonna do badly for the upcoming exam. My econs teacher told me that the project could boost my grade and I won't fail but I was doubting myself cause I know that if I don't pull up my socks I would fail this module.

Just a freshie leh, I can't FAIL ANYTHING!!! I did the re testa and I still failed so I was like all wreck and worried. I kept thinking about it for days and nights, really.

Okay, a bit overdramatic, but hello, when your grades and school life is on the line, you'll be very dramatic too ok.

For 1.2, I failed my macroecons MST this time. Same thing happened, I was worried, scared and anxious. Panicking day and night. Plus, I was feeling very inferior since I was the only one who failed. Really. That brought out an inferiority complex that I never had, I felt entirely embarassed too since the whole class knew 1 person had failed. Ya for yall who didn't know who failed, it was me ok.

Anyway, I did the retest and for once, I didn't fail. So I was kinda glad. Hallelujah!

Long story short, I managed to pass my econs modules and is moving on to 2.1.

But the happiness isn't gonna last cause year 2 means more work and a more hectic life.

Independence

In secondary school, you have your teachers. Nuff said. Throughout our growing up days in school, our form teachers were like a second parent to us.

We go to them when we feel sad or we need help etc. Also, chers were always busy printing out stuff for us, be it notes, worksheets, past year papers etc. God knows how many trees were killed in this process.. But, all for us right?

In poly, everything is DIY. Do-It-Yourself. Thats where the independence comes in.

Now we have to print all the notes ourselves, can you imagine going to the printer shop and printing out a thick stack of notes. I have never been in front of a printer this many times in my life. Ever.

But oh well, the independence is being brought out so I guess it's a good thing.

Workload

In order to prepare for Os/Ns, 10 year series was our best friend/partner. We were practically married to the 10 year series man. Everywhere we go, the 10 year series goes.

I could vividly recall the amount of stress put in when preparing for the major national exam. It was during sec 3 and 4 where I was super stressful especially during and after prelim. I remembered sobbing cause I was like scared.

I mean, hello, it's the freaking Os. Everyone had a certain L1R5/4 that they want to hit in order to be able to attend the poly/JC they wanted.

Boy am I glad I have gone through that phase. But hey, life isn't a bed of roses. A lot of people think life in poly is easy and sweet but sorry to burst your bubble, it isn't.

Then yall be like, "then why you choose poly for what" And I would be like "Cause I'm not the type for JC. I don't like studying the same subjects for like 2 freaking years. Plus, a diploma is useful ok."

But please, be it JC or poly, nothing is easy in life okay.

Everyone think JC students have more stress than poly students but that is so not true. Stop it with the stereotypes please omg. I think as long as you're a student in Singapore, confirm will stress one so stop comparing.

Here in poly, we have both projects and tests to do. If you end up with shitty project mates, good luck cause it could suck and potentially bring your grades down. So choose your mates wisely. But then again if you don't know them that well than I guess you gotta take a gamble.

But if you have good project mates, than congratulations!

Project mates could potentially affect the grades ya know, plays a very crucial part in your GPA. I've heard so many complains from people about their project mates.

Besides projects, there are tests and exams to study too!

And if you're in a business course like me, PRESENTATIONS AS WELL. Yes, presentations as in wearing this pencil skirt with heels and formal blouse presenting stuff in front of the class.

*BONUS SIMILARITY*

CCAs

In sec school, CCA was compulsory cause it helps our L1R4/5. As long as you participate in stuff, you'll get your bonus 2 points to minus from.

However, I've seen some people too focus on their CCA that their studies were neglected. All because they could not manage their time well.

Same goes for poly here. Though a CCA is not compulsory but people are like saying they want a CCA so they could get points, make friends, blah blah blah. But then some of them ended up having lesser time to study which leads to a low GPA.

I choose not to have a CCA in poly because I know I will not be able to manage my time well. I will confirm neglect my studies which would affect my GPA. And so far, my GPA is still within my expectations so thank God.

But I know some people who can manage their time super well so good for them lah. But if you are like me, super cannot manage time well, I suggest you don't pick a CCA. It will only eat into your studying time.

However, if you want to get points and stuff, you can try joining those one time events. Always got points one. Heh.

Whew, that was one lengthy rant. All these are just MY opinion, you may have a different one from me but that doesn't matter. If you wanna argue with whatever I said, feel free.

Okay, next post will be more interesting I hope. Hehe.

Hello again yall. Decided to write something here cause I'm bored plus there's nothing much to do when you're sick.

Was coughing a little last thursday but thought nothing of it cause it wasn't that bad. Until the next day I felt like my throat was swollen (inside lah) and was coughing more.

Mom gave me some medicine to take hoping no need go see doctor, afterall need money and all mah.

When I get sick, usually my mom will give me some medicine to take hoping that there isn't a need to see doctor, but it always ended up going to see the docs cause need antibiotics.

Anyway, I was suppose to lead worship for the Saturday upperlight but because I was losing my voice, my dad told me to rest since it's impossible for me to sing. So I rest at home on Saturday still taking sore throat and cough medicine.

Until the next day my mom was like okay better bring me go doctor and get antibiotics and the right medicine for my throat and cough. We went after church service where I had to wear a mask for the entire time so I don't spread the cough. Very considerate right.

Then, just yesterday, I caught the flu, WTF.

I started sneezing and had blocked nose. My ears were blocked too. If it was my sinus allergy, I wouldn't worry too much because I know it would go away since it's an allergy afterall.

But because my ears were blocked, I knew I caught a flu. Everytime I have a flu, my ears will block one, I also don't know why.

So I'm taking flu medicine along with the other medicine from the doctor's visit.

Oh and I'm drinking a lot of water now since I'm taking a lot of medicine which apparently isn't too good for my kidney (liver?).

The past few days I have been coughing like crazy just so I could get the phlegm out from my throat. It's so annoying cause it doesn't want to come out.

And now I have to deal with blowing my nose often and trying not to swallow my mucus (yuck)

Okay, me being sick aside, I'm having holidays now btw. Just in case yall are wondering why I like so free like that.

2.1 starts on the last week of April, so I have like 3 more weeks of free time.

I feel bad cause I'm not working plus I used up a lot of money for the Korea trip. But like a lot of part time jobs want at least 3 months, I only got 3 weeks so cannot leh.

Waiting for tuition jobs as well since tuition is one way to earn money faster rather than standing around being a promoter while earning 6 bucks per hr. Sigh. That was me last year this time when I had a part time job after Os until poly started.

Okay, I think I'm done ranting here. Off to watch dramas online.

Ps: Have yall been catching up on Descendants of the Sun? I'm like so proud of it cause every episode kept on breaking the record for highest ratings. Sigh.

HAPPY NEW YEAR PALS! :D

Okay, ya I know I'm like 9 days late. I've finally had time to blog cause after new year week, it was the start of school. It's the end of the first week of school thus I finally get to sit down and blog.

So I spend countdown at church and right when the clock hits 12 midnight, I immediately whipped my phone out and started whatsapping all my family and friends. Because of the new years messages probably from all over Singapore (and maybe over the world), Whatsapp hanged lol. So I had to wait till close to 1am before able to continue sending NY greetings.

Well, so far, 2016 hasn't be that bad..yet. Apart from going back to school, finishing up projects in time for submissions and failing one of my mid sem test fml, it's going well so far.. I guess?

People asked me what my resolutions for 2016 is, I told them "nope, don't have any." Well technically I don't make resolutions every year cause I know I probably can't keep them. I would try to stick to them for probably a few weeks and the forget about it afterwards lol.

But seriously, if I were to really make resolutions for this year and stick to it, it will probably be these:

1) Work out more often

Do I need to emphasise on this? LOL. I recently downloaded a few workout apps on my phone. Have yall heard of SWORKIT? It's a fitness app that has a whole body workout, or just your butt, legs, abs and core etc. I did managed to use it before school started, however because of school, I've been tired more recently and time seemed to be taken away by assignments and projects. Thus I find less time to workout.

But I probably would workout when I have no school.. Cause school is enough workout for me lol.

2) Improve GPA

Life of a student here in Singapore. My aim is to gradually improve my gpa every semester so by the time I reach my last year in poly, I would (hopefully) be able to attain a gpa of 3.6 and above..?

Obviously in order to attain a high gpa, must first work hard right. Hence the intense long hours of burying myself in projects, assignments and book. But who am I kidding, I don't spend crazily long hours on studying lol.

3) Survive School (literally)

Self explanatory.

4) Do not give a shit about anyone.

To be honest, sometimes we get into a bad mood is usually because of someone. Someone who makes our day go wrong, who cause us to get angry, sad or annoyed. And I think I don't wanna let anyone make me go from being happy to angry/sad in 1 second.

The best way to not let them ruin my mood is to not care. Simple I guess. Just not give a shit about what they say or do cause they won't be worth it anyway.

5) A closer relationship with God

This is the most important resolution ever. I feel like it is time for me to grow closer with God. He has blessed me so many times that I lost count, it is only right that I should grow closer to him and because I love him.
