An online safe haven.

(gifs not mine)

Sigh. My vacation is ending and school is starting. Sad life.

So fast leh, two months of vacay is done. I feel kinda bad cause I didn't work this time for the vacay. It's like after spending up my savings in Korea, I'm suppose to like work to earn back all the money.

But it's so hard to find jobs especially since a lot of those part time jobs require people to work at least for three months. By the time I came back from holiday, I left only 5 weeks of vacay to myself.

Plus, this vacay lasted only 2 months. But I know some of my friends went out to work so I was like man you guys damn hardworking while I'm here at home lazying and being like a pig.

Anyway, vacay is ending and school starts next week. All the other polys started school this week already though except TP cause we started our vacay later then the rest of the polys.

Timetable came out yesterday and surprisingly not bad leh. I was hoping that I do not have to wake up early in the morning for 9am classes like how I had to for the entire year 1.

HALLELUJAH I have no freaking 9am classes except for one day. So for 4 days out of 5, I don't have to wake up at 6:30AM.

One thing bad though is that when you start school in the afternoon, you'll have to end late. So almost everyday I end at like evening.

Pros and cons of an education.

Gonna savour the last few days of my vacay and cherish it cause by the time school starts, it's no playing anymore.

Oh and I went JB yesterday to "bond" with my parents (said my mom) and we spend time eating and shopping and MASSAGE. OMG.

Me and my mom went for thai massage (not bad leh) at City Square, my dad didn't feel like having massage so he went to tapow food.

Anyway, my mom got a aromatherapy massage on the back whereas I got a feet and neck massage. It was my second time experiencing thai massage. The last time was when I was in Pattaya and I remembered the lady masseur sat on my back but that's another story to tell. :)

The masseur will first wash our feet first before leading you to your comfy seat. My mom was in a different room cause hers was back mah, so I was led into the reflexology room.

They will then put a towel/blanket to cover your body before serving you warm cup of lemongrass green tea. You can also choose to have a blindfold if you are intending to fall asleep. I didn't want to cause I wasn't that tired. But the uncle beside me was snoring halfway through his..

She started stretching my feet before starting the real thing. For the last few minutes, they will massage your neck, shoulders and arms (hands as well). My masseur was able to crack my toes and fingers sia. To cut short my story, the massage was painful but shiok!!

It was painful for me cause my body had muscle ache from a workout that I did the previous day. Especially when she used her elbow and lean her entire body weight on my shoulder, I was screaming internally.

I did arms pilates the previous day ok, so my arms and shoulders were freaking aching.

BUT DAMN SHIOK HAHAAH!

Oh and the masseurs are from Thailand, so you will experience authentic thai massage!!

This morning when I woke up, I was like ouch-ing here and there because of the side effects of the massage plus my muscle ache.

I can't wait till my next holiday so I can go JB again to massage heh.

Okay, I'm gonna go roll around now.

God Bless <3

Have been wanting to write this for quite some time but I've been quite lazy. But since I'm feeling a little productive, I shall start on it.

So it's been a year since I entered poly and I thought maybe I could share my views on the difference between secondary school life and poly life.

Friends

In secondary school, the friendship we made since sec 1 could very well last us our entire 4/5 years in secondary school.

I remembered some friends that I made in the sec 1 orientation camps lasted me my entire secondary school life. LOL. Though after graduating, not many of us are in contact now.

But I do have a few secondary school friends whom I'm super close to even now. Though we are different polys and courses, I still keep in contact with them. They are what I call "Close Friends".

For poly, I haven't graduate yet so I can't say for sure whether the friends I made in year 1 are still my friends after graduation. But a lot of people has been saying how people in poly are so fake and all they want to do in be popular.

I haven't encounter any of them yet, or maybe I have and I just don't know it yet but I think it's a little true..? I mean there are some people in polys whom are just obsessed with wanting to stand out and be popular so they join all sorts of activities and camps and blah blah blah just so they could get people to pay attention to them I guess. But I believe not everyone are like that.

Cause if the whole population in poly are like that then we are all effed up.

So I would say that the friendship made in secondary school are much more significant than the friendship made in polys.

Sure there's always drama (esp in a girls school) but we will always make up. Even after graduating from secondary school for at least a year now, I'm still in contact with some of my close classmates. Especially since we were from a girls school, the bond is damn deep ok.

I can't say the same for poly right now but maybe I'll get back to yall when I graduate ok?

Test Results

In secondary school, failing a subject doesn't mean end of the world. Not talking about national exam lah, that one is a whole different story lol.

Ya ok but like if we failed a subject in school, it's not really too worrying right. I mean admit it lah, some of yall will just be like "shit, failed math/science. aiya, better start studying hard liao,"

And then when you find a friend who also failed, it's like "OMG YOU FAILED ALSO? HIGH FIVE SIA!" This is something that happens to everyone once in their life I'm sure.

Then you'll just carry on with life and just continue to bury yourself in the 10 year series.

In poly, however, is an entirely whole new ball game. If you fail a module, you just need to repeat it the next sem. As simple as that. But though it is very simple, trust me, you do not want to ever repeat a module.

The work schedule in school is already super hectic with at least 4 or 5 modules plus your CCA. Imagine retaking the module that you failed in the next sem along with your other 5 modules. Its hell man. Extra workload!!

Which is why everyone is working hard in poly at their exams and projects just so we could pass the module and not having to care about it forever.

When it comes to test results, it could emotionally wreck you I suppose.

I remembered when I used to fail a subject in secondary school, I was sad for a day but then I move on and just study even harder.

But in poly, it's emotionally stressful tbh.

For 1.1, I had failed my microecons mid semester test. I am super bad at numbers and stuff btw, which is why I always don't do so well for maths and science. I am more of a history and literature person.

Anyway, when I failed my econs MST for 1,1, I was freaking out. Cause I was worried if I was gonna do badly for the upcoming exam. My econs teacher told me that the project could boost my grade and I won't fail but I was doubting myself cause I know that if I don't pull up my socks I would fail this module.

Just a freshie leh, I can't FAIL ANYTHING!!! I did the re testa and I still failed so I was like all wreck and worried. I kept thinking about it for days and nights, really.

Okay, a bit overdramatic, but hello, when your grades and school life is on the line, you'll be very dramatic too ok.

For 1.2, I failed my macroecons MST this time. Same thing happened, I was worried, scared and anxious. Panicking day and night. Plus, I was feeling very inferior since I was the only one who failed. Really. That brought out an inferiority complex that I never had, I felt entirely embarassed too since the whole class knew 1 person had failed. Ya for yall who didn't know who failed, it was me ok.

Anyway, I did the retest and for once, I didn't fail. So I was kinda glad. Hallelujah!

Long story short, I managed to pass my econs modules and is moving on to 2.1.

But the happiness isn't gonna last cause year 2 means more work and a more hectic life.

Independence

In secondary school, you have your teachers. Nuff said. Throughout our growing up days in school, our form teachers were like a second parent to us.

We go to them when we feel sad or we need help etc. Also, chers were always busy printing out stuff for us, be it notes, worksheets, past year papers etc. God knows how many trees were killed in this process.. But, all for us right?

In poly, everything is DIY. Do-It-Yourself. Thats where the independence comes in.

Now we have to print all the notes ourselves, can you imagine going to the printer shop and printing out a thick stack of notes. I have never been in front of a printer this many times in my life. Ever.

But oh well, the independence is being brought out so I guess it's a good thing.

Workload

In order to prepare for Os/Ns, 10 year series was our best friend/partner. We were practically married to the 10 year series man. Everywhere we go, the 10 year series goes.

I could vividly recall the amount of stress put in when preparing for the major national exam. It was during sec 3 and 4 where I was super stressful especially during and after prelim. I remembered sobbing cause I was like scared.

I mean, hello, it's the freaking Os. Everyone had a certain L1R5/4 that they want to hit in order to be able to attend the poly/JC they wanted.

Boy am I glad I have gone through that phase. But hey, life isn't a bed of roses. A lot of people think life in poly is easy and sweet but sorry to burst your bubble, it isn't.

Then yall be like, "then why you choose poly for what" And I would be like "Cause I'm not the type for JC. I don't like studying the same subjects for like 2 freaking years. Plus, a diploma is useful ok."

But please, be it JC or poly, nothing is easy in life okay.

Everyone think JC students have more stress than poly students but that is so not true. Stop it with the stereotypes please omg. I think as long as you're a student in Singapore, confirm will stress one so stop comparing.

Here in poly, we have both projects and tests to do. If you end up with shitty project mates, good luck cause it could suck and potentially bring your grades down. So choose your mates wisely. But then again if you don't know them that well than I guess you gotta take a gamble.

But if you have good project mates, than congratulations!

Project mates could potentially affect the grades ya know, plays a very crucial part in your GPA. I've heard so many complains from people about their project mates.

Besides projects, there are tests and exams to study too!

And if you're in a business course like me, PRESENTATIONS AS WELL. Yes, presentations as in wearing this pencil skirt with heels and formal blouse presenting stuff in front of the class.

*BONUS SIMILARITY*

CCAs

In sec school, CCA was compulsory cause it helps our L1R4/5. As long as you participate in stuff, you'll get your bonus 2 points to minus from.

However, I've seen some people too focus on their CCA that their studies were neglected. All because they could not manage their time well.

Same goes for poly here. Though a CCA is not compulsory but people are like saying they want a CCA so they could get points, make friends, blah blah blah. But then some of them ended up having lesser time to study which leads to a low GPA.

I choose not to have a CCA in poly because I know I will not be able to manage my time well. I will confirm neglect my studies which would affect my GPA. And so far, my GPA is still within my expectations so thank God.

But I know some people who can manage their time super well so good for them lah. But if you are like me, super cannot manage time well, I suggest you don't pick a CCA. It will only eat into your studying time.

However, if you want to get points and stuff, you can try joining those one time events. Always got points one. Heh.

Whew, that was one lengthy rant. All these are just MY opinion, you may have a different one from me but that doesn't matter. If you wanna argue with whatever I said, feel free.

Okay, next post will be more interesting I hope. Hehe.

God Bless <3

Hey!! A very very quick post here! So school has officially started and I am still tryna get rid of all the holiday vibes and to prioritise stuff now.
It's gonna be the weekend soon and I really can't wait. Since it's only the first week of school, it isn't really too hectic yet cause there was only lectures and no tutorials, so whew.
But yeah, back to all the group projects, assignments and exams. Talk about life of a student here in Singapore.
I am typing this out cause I've got no lesson today so I get to stay home! Yay. This semester is so different from 1.1, school either end at 1pm or 7pm for me for the whole week.
Okay, enough about school. So I started on The Walking Dead Season 6 and it has been awesome so far! I just watched episode 2 and the suspense is killing me.
cutie
Oh and I also started Supernatural Season 11! WOOHOO. #hotwinchesters.
You must be like, "didn't you start school already? So free to watch show meh?" Haha, well I'm a little free for only this week only I guess. Next week onwards, I'd probably be like ripping my hair off because of all the assignments and project stuff. UGH.
Oh and I've also started going back to reading books! Yes, I do read lol. Right now I'm reading a fantasy/romance/mythical book, I would say I love these type of books. Yeah, the vampire/wolves/fairies stuff. LOL.
Before I forget, I might be doing a post on BB creams by Etude House cause right now they are having an event for their 1 year anniversary opening of their flagship store at Wisma, and its where we could go online and play a game and we could win some prizes!
Being a major fan, I played it almost everyday lol ((we have 5 tries a day I think)), and I won like a BB cream kit! So I might do a review when I'm free, so wait for it! :)
Okay, I said it would be a short post..
Shall go back to reading my book and jammin to Taylor Swift.
God bless <3

As a student myself, studying is part and parcel of life. We definitely cannot avoid studying, if we wanna pass, studying is a must! ((heyy it rhymes!))
I won't call myself a "perfect A" student because I never was. In primary school, I did average for my PSLE. For those who don't know what PSLE is, it basically stands for Primary School Leaving Examinations, where every student at the age of 12 years old ((primary 6)) have to take this exam to determine what grades they would achieve in order to apply for a secondary school.
In primary school, I wasn't the super smart student, my grades were average. ((sigh)). However, by God's grace, I was able to get into the express stream in secondary school. Throughout the four years, ((due to always playing around and not paying attention in class sigh)) I was failing majority of my subjects.
It was so bad that after SA1 during Sec 4, I had passed only 1 subject ((out of 7 btw)). My parents were called to the teacher's office.
It was then where I kinda "woke up" and was like "I better buck up!" because it was like a few more months to O levels, and nobody could afford to fail!
Praise God though, I managed to exceed expectations and did well for the national exam. Now, I am currently a student at a polytechnic! ((annnd another hurdle to cross.. getting a good GPA!!!))
So here are some studying tips I wish to share for those who are a student like me. I don't know if these would work out for you but feel free to try them! :)
A) Always put away devices that would distract you.
Let's admit it, in today's world, no one could live without their smartphones or laptops ((guilty)), which is why in order to ensure you are concentrated only on your books, we have to put away these stuff. For me, I made sure my phone is off and far away from me. As a poly student, I had to have my laptop on because I need it for school work, so you could see that the temptation to drift away from the books and going on the internet is strong. Which brings me to the next point.
B) Practice self control
It's all about the mentality I guess. When I was in secondary school, I always had to use my phone ((I didn't had my laptop then, only a computer which has a password that I didn't know)), which kinda made me fail very badly in school. However, I learned to control myself now that I am in poly. When I had my laptop on because usually practice paper's answers would be online, I made sure that I use it only for checking answers and then when I am done, I off it, and go back to my notes. I think that as long as we all practice a self control, it would be easier to study and maintain a distraction free "studying day" ((lol))
C) MINDMAPS ARE DA BOMBS!
When I was studying for O levels, I didn't construct mindmaps. I thought it was like a waste of time and thought it wouldn't help me. So instead, I wrote notes. But really, looking back I feel so stupid. Because I was actually just "copying and pasting" info from my textbook into a blank piece of paper. And it was actually hard to digest, sure it made me remember some points, but it was all over the place in my brain, so it didn't really work. ((though I still manage to pass lol hallelujah!)) So this time, as I was studying for my poly exams, I started doing mindmaps.
Using lots of colorful pens and pieces of papers, I did mindmaps for some of my modules that required intense remembering of content. IT DID HELPED MY BRAIN THANK THE LORD. It was so easy for me to remember which points belong to which "category", and it's convenient too. Like I could just whip it out and just stare at it, even before I entered the exam hall. Instead of flipping through written notes that were copied and pasted lmao.
But it's just my preference and it works for my brain, allows me to remember better. But if it doesn't work for you, maybe you could share how you remember things! Just feel free to comment below! :D
D) Always start studying way before the exam
This was one thing I never did in secondary school ((regret regret)). I was always studying like few days before! ((yeah, which resulted in super bad results)). So this time, I started constructing my mindmaps a month before the exams. I know some people started like 3 months before ((wah that one really damn on.)), but I am a chillax kind of person? LMAO. ((yes yes, my horrible secondary school results.))  Anyway, I think studying way before the exam could actually give your brain time to remember stuff, and make it a habit to actually go through what you studied over and over again so that your brain would not forget!
E) Remember to take a break
We are not robots! We can't do something for hours after hours. So, always remember to rest your brain and take a break! Okay, confession time. Sometimes my break would be longer than the amount of time I studied. But hey, at least I managed to get work done right?  What I usually do when taking a break from studying, is to just lay on my bed and rest my eyes. If not, I would probably be in the kitchen finding food.
F) Pray.
I don't know what your religion is, but for me, growing up in a Christian household, I have learned to pray whenever I do things or when I just feel like talking to God. I have make it a habit to always pray before I start studying and before I take a paper.
Okie dokes! So these are what helps me to study more effectively. It might not work for you, so feel free to share your studying tips! :)
Oh and uhh, for the record, if you don't get an "A" after doing all these, don't blame me, cause I am not sharing tips for you to get an "A", these are tips that would help you study more effectively and more productive..?
Anyway, I am racking my brains on what to write for leBeauty stuff cause I hope to write more beauty related stuff here.
So, see ya in my next post!
((gonna go roll around))

Today was my last day of exam, so booyah! Its party time!
okay, just kidding. I hate parties like this.
What I am most probably gonna do now that exams are over is.. sleep.
Just gonna hibernate the entire holidays.
... I wish.
Unfortunately I thought that once school's out, we get to compensate for the sleep that we loss because of school and studying.
Well, how wrong am I.
Cause when school's out and exams over, its time for work.
Yup, you heard me.
Ugh, time to go online or search newspaper ads for part time jobs to last me a month and a half.
I remembered after O levels, I had to find my first part time job. Afterall, there's no way my mom would be letting me waste myself and my time around at home doing nothing for about 5 months. My first part time job was with my pals doing some event thingy at Expo. We had to attend briefings and then travel all the way to expo for the job. Well it wasn't bad at all I suppose. Though after the whole event, I became so tired and it was like dark by the time I reached home. But it was on that day when I received my first pay check!
It wasn't that much, but it was kind of like a stepping stone. Soon after I begin looking for more jobs, I tried finding jobs so that I could work together with my friends, but I knew it was impossible to work together.
I begin working as a promoter for baby clothes at Taka, I went on to work from Jan to mid april? It was definitely tiring since I needed to stand for like 8 hrs and if there is no customer around, its really really boring.
When it was time for me to start school, I finished my last week at work and boy was I proud of myself lol. I mean, able to work for like a few months and managed to earn quite a bit of money. Hehe.
But I guess its difficult for me to find jobs since most jobs need to like work on the weekends, and since I have already committed the weekends for church, I can't work on weekends.
But oh well, I just hope I would be able to find a job and quickly earn money for next year #SIN2SEOUL.
Yup, I am heading back to Seoul next year again!
#hallelujah!
Anyway, it's kinda fast how the first sem has already ended. Like wow.
And like the year is coming to the end already, so fast!
Oh well, I can't wait for my results to quickly be out lol.
Oh and I should start working on my Color liquid lips review.
